Weekend Rant – The Little Green Men

by Chris Frede on January 31, 2010

ry%3D400Maybe this is a St. Louis thing – but this time of year, I am always intrigued by the people dressed in green as the Statue of Liberty. Everyday they are on the street, usually two of them, right outside of a tax preparation service. I like to call them the little green men.

The little green men must be employed by the tax preparation company. The job of the little green men is  job is to get drivers attention and encourage them to visit the business. Their methods are very interesting. The sing, dance and point at you as you drive by. They are very friendly and outgoing. Come to think about it, I have seen this before. Similar people dressed in a scary costume in October for the Halloween supply stores and even high school students with their signs trying to encourage people to get their car washed. Maybe this job and skill set is more prevalent than I thought.

All in all, I am impressed. They are performing a job that I could not do. Here’s to all the little green men I see on my way to work. They do catch my attention, so they are doing something right. Cheers!
